Greg Smith, Founder and President
Greg’s career has taken him from teaching (American University and SCAD) to film (Lucasfilm, IMAX, etc.) to radio (National Public Radio) and television (CBS). A lifelong musician, Greg has recorded 14 albums of original compositions and published well over 100 songs. As the Founder and Creative Director of Inside Voices United, Greg brings his considerable professional experience to give voice to inmate songwriters and musicians.

Bob Duncan, Lead Technical Officer
Bob brings over 50 years of knowledge and experience in music, film and television production to IVU. He was Director of Film and Digital Media Services at the Savannah College of Art and Design for 20 years, and a technician and producer in commercial television before that. He’s also a lifelong musician; playing and producing both live and in the studio.

Byron Childs, Lead Recording Engineer
Byron has a wealth of experience recording music both in the studio and on location. As our CRE, he’s been able to make remarkable recordings of inmate songs for IVU within the hard, cinder block walls of state prisons. He is also pursuing a Master of Fine Arts degree in Sound Design at the Savannah College of Art and Design.

Ruth Hutson, Operations Manager
Ruth acted as assistant production manager for Spoleto Festival, USA and VP for a RCCL subcontractor handling personnel, logistics, and budgets. She has 15 years teaching experience with SCAD Savannah where she acted as department scheduler and handled workflow compliance. Ruth’s career in lighting design includes over 150 opera, concert, and touring productions.
